I don't know why I've always felt introductions were so awkward, but for me there is an uncomfortableness around introductions. Especially when it's necessary to move forward, but it isn't organic.
I'm picturing district meetings I would go to as a store manager and since some of us were on other sides of the state we'd have to do ice breakers and I wanted to die every time. For one, adults doing ice breakers like high schoolers is ready akward, but now I have to tell you what color I'd be when this bitch next to me just said red. I'm supposed to follow blah red with my aqua?! I'm getting secondhand embarrassment just remembering it.
I digress...
I heard "..." is like aggressive, just know mine are for pregnant pauses and if you listen to my pod as well, you'll know what that pause sounds like. Think of my mouth as the turtle and my brain as the hare, just please don't take my dot dot dot!
Anywhooooooo...
I'm Kaylee and this is my new passion project. The blog and podcast will be two different experiences that I can hopefully entertain people with individually as well as together. Individually, the blog would work more interactive because you'll have to read the chapters beforehand to truly grasp what I'm taking about. The podcast is like the audiobook version of the interactive blog 😂
You'll be happy to know (or you won't be, how do I know?) that when it comes to making intro music however I really do lose myself. I made about 5 separate options for the podcast music opening and close when really I only saved two as the intro and outro because in my heart of hearts I knew that I was going to use those ones, I just couldn't stop playing around with the beat maker 😅
So instead of starting the podcast recording process like I had planned, I now have to wait because my daughter will be home from school soon and my attention will not be able to be on podcast-y things. In the mean time I'll be trying to get this blog up to how I want it looking until I can record, hopefully tonight.
I'm using things I say in this blog to hold myself on track starting now, in the good days, because it'll be easier to do so in the bad days when I want to do absolutely nothing. Also, possibly using this as a tactic to keep myself from complete isolation that I regularly put myself in because of my mental health.
Now I already know I'm going to make this same point of similar phrasing in the podcast because I've been thinking about it as a line to day already to get into the book choice for our first book. It'll be repetitive in a sense of the same way it's been bouncing around my brain.
It seems like the obviously place to start would be with Vampire Academy; it's where I started, there's a movie, the show is airing as we speak. The hype is definitely alive for VA and I first went to a riding on the coattails place as far as gaining ground myself. But then I thought about it and I don't feel like I will enjoy the show the same if I'm immersed in the books at the same time. Viewing them as separate entities helps me enjoy them both without feeling the need to tear down a different form of the artwork.
Vampire Academy will obviously be showcased at some point because I truly hope to continue this through all of her books, even if the only person to find it amusing is me. Plus, Vampire Academy gives us Demitri and Adrian who are like top 5 in my book boyfriends, so it'll probably have longer to shine than some others!
But then where to start? Well it seemed only fitting to start with the book that started me on her adult novels, then. Afterall it takes place where she and I both live, has all my favorite hellish beings; it's the perfect place to start. We're starting with the Succubus Blues series or, as it's more notably found online as, the Georgina Kincaid novel series. I think probably because of the connotations around succubi and sex work shaming.
For me, I found succubus and vampire lore among my top favorites once I started having a darker personality I guess. So when I ate through Vampire Academy and needed more I dove into what else Richelle Mead had written. The Storm Born series still remains my all time favorite, but as soon as I saw Succubus in the title I was like sign me the fuck up!
Bought the first one. Gobbled it up! Saw there were 3 more out in the series...ordered ALL of 'em! Shout out to Borders when they were still a thing. I'm getting excited just thinking about all the great stuff I remember from this series!
I'm truly the biggest fangirl of the things I like. I can't help it!
*insert several hours later screen from SpongeBob here*
I wasn't able to start recording when I wanted to last night because mental illness won, but I figured I could post this portion for anyone who might find this before the podcast gets up (if anyone finds it hahaha) that wants to read on their own. I was originally toying with the idea of one chapter per episode, but some chapters are shorter and I might not have a whole lot discussion wise right from the jump.
We'll say the first episode will be Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead chapters 1 & 2. I'm going out of town 10/20 so if the first episode isn't up by Thursday then I'll be shooting for two episodes releasing 11/1/22.
So, I guess that's all for now!
You're pretty; I love you! Ok byeeeeee
xx Kaylee
