I would have liked to start this with an update on the podcast being available. But as fate would have it I got sick as soon as I got back into the cold from California. I thought I was coming out of it, so I recorded the first two episodes (two chapters each), then the next day was extremely worse. Then the power went out and was out for 4 days.
It's been cold and hard to mend myself because of the cold, even harder to do podcast edits without power. I'm currently just trying to get healthy enough to not be coughing throughout the entire recording process. All my covid tests have been negative so the hope is it will be vanishing shortly. I'm doing everything I can to help it leave and that's really the best I can do.
It probably doesn't help that my daughter and I have started reading the illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for her reading log this month, so I've been reading a chapter a loud to her each day (minus our powerless ones) except for when she gets a new book from the library. But that's not something I'm willing to cut back on and take the experience from her when this is the first time she's really been interested in reading together. That's what hot tea is for, anyway, right?
I'm excited to get into editing and getting the first couple episodes up on the pod in the free time I'll have later this week and then going into a more regulated schedule since everything won't be so jammed together between being sick, losing power, fitting a work week into two days, and all that other shit that follows with life when you're trying to put something together. At least that seems to be what always happens with me. I've just made the conscious decision to not let everything fall off like I normally would have when outside forces team up with the internal spiraling. Which is why I almost named this "What Would Richelle Mead Do?" but I don't know exactly what she would do in these situations. I can probably guess and the snarky quips she'd make, but that's about as far as it goes.
So, I guess that's it. We're a week later than when I wanted stuff out, but life happens and sometimes other things must take a seat while more survival necessities take the lead. Thursday will be dedicated to grocery shopping (since the power outage took my fridge of food as tribute) and podcast editing!
Stay warm, stay healthy, and stay golden Ponyboy!
You're pretty; I love you. Okay byyyeeeeeee
